World number five Stefanos Tsitsipas will play his first match on tour since a career-best run to the round of 16 at Wimbledon, where he ousted Andy Murray and Dominic Thiem in five sets apiece before falling to Christopher Eubanks in the same fashion. The 24-year-old saw some encouraging signs at SW19 after a pretty lacklustre summer but it is important to remember that the Greek reached a Grand Slam final on a hardcourt earlier this season in Melbourne, finishing runner-up to Novak Djokovic, ahead of this hardcourt swing. Tsitsipas has also reunited with coach Mark Philippoussis in a move that can only be positive ahead of a busy schedule and he will be desperate to hit the ground running with a first title in over a year. Former world number eight John Isner beat Tsitsipas in both of their first meetings on tour but the American has lost each of the last five, albeit often quite tightly. Only one of their seven matches has failed to see at least one tiebreak, so add one here alongside a win for Tsitsipas as Isner’s effectiveness on tour continues to finally fade at 38 years old.
