World number four Stefanos Tsitsipas beat Alex de Minaur in straight sets to win the Los Cabos Open last weekend, his first on an outdoors hardcourt. The 24-year-odl looks to have made a significant change to his coaching team after joining back up with Mark Philippousis for what looks a closer relationship this time around and it will be fascinating to see how he can develop over the coming months. Former world number six Gael Monfils overcame in-form Christopher Eubanks in a predictably entertaining three-set battle on Monday, taking the first if two tiebreaks before powering through impressively in the third. The 36-year-old is making the long journey back after an injury lay off but after addressing the retirement spectre last month a three-set exit to eventual runner-up Tallon Griekspoor in Washington last week was hugely encouraging.
Tsitsipas leads Monfils 2-1 in a well-contested head-to-head but their last match came at the Dubai Tennis Championships in 2019. Four years on it is likely that Monfils will struggle to keep the Greek at bay but the pair have seen four tiebreaks out of eight sets played to offer an interesting combination. Consider taking Tsitsipas to win with at least a tiebreak in the match but the sensible option is just the result.
