28-year-old Stefano Neapolitano set a career-high ATP world ranking of 152nd in 2017 but the Italian has played just three tour-level matches in his career so far. The Italian qualified the hard way this week with two strong wins over top 150 players to become the lowest-ranked man in the draw at world number 555 and that sets up an exciting watch for home fans here on Thursday. World number 59 Alex Molcan is an excellent clay-court competitor but he will have to cope with playing the villain of this piece against a severe home underdog in the notoriously partisan conditions in Rome. 25-year-old Molcan only recently reached the semi-finals of the Banja Luka Open to prove himself likely to strong here but consider a one-off on Neapolitano to snatch a set on one of the biggest days of his career.
