The 26-year-old finished runner-up to Iga Swiatek in a three-set thriller that challenged the world number one more than ever before in Paris but she suffered an injury in the first round at Wimbledon last month to leave her current fitness questionable. World number 31 Sorana Cirstea beat Varvara Gracheva in straight sets on Monday and she should not be underestimated after bursting into form on at the early hardcourt Masters events, particularly in Miami when she stunned Aryna Sabalenka to make the semi-finals.
The Romanian can be a very tough player to work off the court at her best but Muchova has the higher ceiling and some incredible recent form behind her. This is a tough call to make on the Czech’s fitness, so take Muchova to earn at least a set to leave the result up to chance.
