World number 42 Maxime Cressy was born here in Paris but he represents the US, meaning he should get a little extra support from the Roland-Garros crowd. The 26-year-old is in woeful form right now, though, as he brings an eight-match losing streak into Sunday’s opener against qualifier Sebastian Ofner – who should be fancying his chances at the upset here. World number 118 Ofner is at his best on clay and the Swiss came through qualifying well this week to at least bring some wins under his belt to this first meeting with Cressy. Serve-and-volley throwback Cressy tends to struggle on clay anyway but he lost his only previous appearance here last season to Nikoloz Basilashvili in five sets and there is little evidence to suggest a different outcome here. Leave this one out of an accumulator but back Ofner to grab an excellent opening win.
