World number 120 Alex Molcan is capable of much better tennis than his current ranking suggests but it has been a difficult second season for the Slovak after breaking the top 40 last spring. The 25-year-old upset Luca Van Assche in straight sets on Monday to get a strong foothold in at the Kitzbuhel Open but he will have to win back-to-back matches at tour level for the first time since making the semi-finals of the Banja Luka Open if he hopes to progress further. World number 61 Sebastian Ofner received a bye to the round of 16 as the fourth seed on home clay in Kitzbuhel and he will be desperate to perform well for home fans as a genuine title contender here for the first time. The Austrian enjoyed an incredible run to the round of 16 at Roland-Garros back in June and he won the Salzburg Challenger last month to suggest he will be a real handful this week but Molcan is well capable of bursting back into his previous level. Take Ofner to earn at least a set as the likelier of two capable victors.
