World number 31 Sebastian Korda should be considered a feasible dark horse for the latter stages of the Australian Open after coming back into form late last season. The 22-year-old finished runner-up at back-to-back finals in Gijon and Antwerp in October, to Andrey Rublev and Felix Auger-Aliassime, respectively, and he made it three finals reached in a row on tour at Adelaide 1 two weeks ago in an impressive three-set defeat to Novak Djokovic. 24-year-old Yosuke Watanuki should not be discounted, though, after stunning Arthur Rinderknech in three sets on his Grand Slam debut but the qualifier has drawn one of the shorter straws here. Korda can occasionally be caught out in matches he is expected to win comfortably but on this occasion, in this current form, the American can be backed to edge this in three sets. It would be wise to take him to win outright inside an accumulator, though.
