THE PREDICTION
World number 44 Sebastian Baez beat Marton Fucsovics in tight straight sets on Tuesday for an excellent start to his Lyon Open campaign as he seeks a third career ATP 250 title on clay. The 22-year-old won the Cordoba Open on home clay in Argentine back in February to back-up last season’s Estoril Open crown and he recently took a set from Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Madrid Open to prove his worth in these conditions. World number 63 Pedro Cachin came back from a set down to beat the returning Gael Monfils on Tuesday to take his 2023 record up to 8-14 but the 28-year-old only recently righted his poor form for the year so far with an excellent run to the round of 16 in Madrid. It took a three-set defeat from eventual runner-up Jan-Lennard Struff to oust Cachin that week and subsequent career-best victories over Francisco Cerundolo and Frances Tiafoe give him plenty of clout in this clash. Baez beat his compatriot in straight sets last month in Estoril but this rematch could come a lot closer. Take Baez to earn at least a set inside an accumulator or to win outright on its own.
