THE PREDICTION

Former world number five Sara Errani has enjoyed a recent upturn in form on tour, reaching the second round at Roland-Garros for a swansong last month before quickly losing to Irina-Camelia Begu. The 36-year-old conceded just five games to Maryna Zanevska on Sunday but backing that up will be tough for the veteran both in terms of fatigue and opponent as world number 42 Varvara Gracheva should prove too strong. The 22-year-old enjoyed an excellent first third of the season on hardcourts, making the second weeks of both events on the Sunshine Double back in March, but she fell away on the clay. The Russian lost to eventual runner-up Donna Vekic in the first round of Berlin last week but she ousted Jaqueline Cristian in under an hour on Monday to suggest she can be a threat in Bad Homburg. Back Gracheva to win outright, although two should do it.
