ROBERTO CARBALLES BAENA VS CONSTANT LESTIENNE PREDICTION
World number 63 Roberto Carballes Baena is a tough draw for most players on his favoured clay, with his best Grand Slam record a third round exit here back in 2020. The 31-year-old won his second ATP title at the Marrakech Open last spring and he came agonisingly close to defending it in April, losing in the final to Matteo Berrettini, to take some solid form into Roland-Garros.
World number 91 Constant Lestienne has not won a tour-level match since Indian Wells in March but he did beat Carballes Baena at the Phoenix Challenger a week late, albeit via an injury to the Spaniard. A 3-6 record for 2024 does not bode well for his chances here but the 32-year-old is one of the more enigmatic players on tour.
Expect sets to go both ways if Lestienne can feed off of raucous home support but Carballes Baena should have more than enough to come through.
