World number 44 Richard Gasquet remains a threat on clay despite taking a 2-4 record on the surface into Rome. The 36-year-old won the 16th ATP title of his long and illustrious career at the Auckland Classic back in January and he is just two wins away from becoming the 11th player to reach 600 victories on tour. World number 57 Yibing Wu is right at the start of his own promising career at 23 years old, claiming his maiden ATP title at the Dallas Open back in February. The Chinese has won just twice since then and a 0-2 record on clay suggests a first meeting with Gasquet in these conditions is not going to go his way. Gasquet took Hubert Hurkacz to three sets in Madrid before just missing out and that sort of form suggests he can be backed to win outright here.
