Both Cristina Bucsa and Rebeka Masarova come into the Madrid Masters at career-high WTA world rankings after enjoying their best seasons so far. World number 70 Bucsa reached the third round of the Australian Open back in January after coming back from a set down to stun Bianca Andreescu and she more recently upset Marie Bouzkova on clay at the Charleston Open. World number 74 Masarova became the first of the two to reach a tour final, though, when she finished runner-up to Coco Gauff at the Auckland Classic at the start of the year. More consistent results suggest Bucsa is the favourite in this first tour-level meeting between the two but Masarova enjoyed a strong run on clay on the ITF circuit last week to bring some form of her own into the mix. Back Bucsa to win at least a set inside an accumulator or to come through outright in its own.
