THE PREDICTION
World number six Coco Gauff finished runner-up to Iga Swiatek in her first Grand Slam final here last summer, beating the likes of Sloane Stephens and Elise Mertens en-route before a rather one-sided result at the end. The 19-year-old claimed her second of three WTA titles on clay at the Emilia-Romagna Open back in 2021 but she has struggled on the surface so far this season, taking a 3-3 record into Paris. Gauff beat 23-year-old Rebeka Masarova 6-1, 6-1 to win her third WTA title at the Auckland Classic at the start of this season and another straight-sets result looks the likely outcome here. However, Masarova is enjoying the best year of her career so far and she recently upset Donna Vekic on home clay at the Madrid Open before taking the first set in an eventual defeat to Maria Sakkari to throw some doubt on this rematch. Back Gauff to win in two but consider the outright inside a promising accumulator.
