THE PREDICTION

27-year-old Rebecca Sramkova will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 87th after overcoming Sofia Kenin in three sets on Sunday, backing-up an excellent second round win over 26th seed Katie Boulter. The Slovak dropped her first set in five matches, including qualifying, in Rome but doing so should prove to her that she has the ability to dig deep in this career-best run. World number 10 Jelena Ostapenko should be too steep of a step-up in quality in these conditions, though, as the 2017 Roland-Garros champion overcame excellent clay-courter Sara Sorribes Tormo in three sets yesterday. Ostapenko beat Sramkova in three tight sets at the Fed Cup group stage in 2019 but the Latvian has improved in recent seasons to reasonably expect to come through in two here. Back Ostapenko to win outright, with Sramkova’s run deserving caution.

TIP: JELENA OSTAPENKO TO WIN
