World number 87 Rebecca Peterson conceded just two games to Fiona Ferro on Tuesday to get a good foothold in Paris and the Swede can produce tennis much better than her current ranking suggests once she beds in to a tournament. Runs to the Merida Open final, before defeat to Camila Giorgi, and the round of 16 at Indian Wells are proof of her ability with a good start and this looks an excellent opportunity for both players after Xinyu Wang stunned 31st seed Marie Bouzkova in straight sets on Tuesday. The world number 80 claimed her first win on clay of the season against an out-of-sorts Bouzkova but she has all the hallmarks of a future top 20 player and plenty of weapons that can cause damage on clay. The pair share a 1-1 head-to-head with a win apiece on hardcourts but this first meeting on clay should, just-about, favour Peterson on experience as much as anything. Back the Swede to earn at least a set and leave the victor up to chance.
