World number 23 Qinwen Zheng recently won her maiden WTA title at the Palermo Ladies Open on clay, the surface on which she has most impressed so far in two very promising seasons on tour. The 20-year-old has needed top 30 opposition to oust her from her past three tournaments on hardcourts to look the clear favourite here but world number 70 Nadia Podoroska does have pedigree at this level as a semi-finalist at Roland-Garros back in 2020. A recent run to the semi-finals of the Hungarian Open on her favoured clay was encouraging but the Argentine will have to wait until next February to make more gains towards her career-high of 36th barring a total reinvention off of the surface. Back Zheng to win in straight sets.
