The 24-year-old will have to improve a lot to live up to her billing as the second seed this week but she should be considered a real title contender here in Rosmalen as one of the better players on grass inside the top 20 on tour. 20-year-old Polina Kudermetova will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of 134th after beating Yue Yuan on Tuesday to claim her first ever win on tour. The Russian is on the opposite side of the draw from her sister, Veronika, who is the top seed this week in Rosmalen but it would be one of the shocks of the season to see her squeeze past Samsonova. Back the second seed to win in straight sets but consider leaving this one out of an accumulator.
