World number two Aryna Sabalenka will play her first match back on tour for almost a month after suffering heartbreak at Wimbledon, where she took the first set from Ons Jabeur before defeat in the semi-finals. The 25-year-old also reached the semi-finals at Roland-Garros in June before a similarly tight three-set defeat to Karolina Muchova but there can be no doubt that her best level comes on hardcourts, backed-up by her maiden Grand Slam title won at the Australian Open back in January. World number 35 Petra Martic beat lucky loser Cristina Bucsa in straight sets on Tuesday after Lesia Tsurenko withdrew from their first round fixture but this looks too steep a climb in these conditions. The Croat beat Sabalenka in three sets in 2019 to level their head-to-head at 1-1 but Sabalenka is a totally different prospect four years on. Back the Belarussian, one of several contenders for the title this week, to win in straight sets.
