World number 49 Alexander Bublik is enduring perhaps the worst season of his career so far as he takes a 5-15 record into the Italian Open but two fierce three-set matches in Madrid last time out suggest he is at least fighting to correct it. The Kazakh is probably the most unpredictable player on tour with buckets of natural talent and absolutely no plan B and that makes it wise to leave any and all of his matches out of accumulators. Clay is certainly his weakest surface but world number 142 Pedro Martinez brings a similarly poor record into Rome and a four-match losing streak at tour level. The Spaniard beat Bublik comfortably two years ago in Estoril but this should come a lot closer. Take Bublik to earn at least a set or leave this one alone altogether.
