The 25-year-old enjoyed an excellent run to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon last week via an incredible round of 16 clash with Alexander Bublik, with a four-set defeat to Novak Djokovic an improvement on his recent tussles with top five players. 24-year-old Pavel Kotov set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 89th this week after a recent run to the quarter-finals of the Mallorca Championships and he finished runner-up at the Braunschweig Challenger last week to bring some strong clay form into this first encounter with Rublev. Kotov beat Marco Cecchinato in straight sets on Tuesday for an excellent result on this surface but Rublev should be too consistent in his current guise to suffer an upset. Back Rublev to win outright for caution’s sake.
