The 24-year-old looked ready to prove himself at this level after reaching a Masters final for the first time last month in Toronto, where he stunned the likes of Daniil Medvedev and Cam Norrie before running out of steam against Jannik Sinner. 27-year-old Nicolas Jarry has enjoyed the best season of his life so far and he can move up to a career-high ATP world ranking of 21st no matter the outcome here after coming back from a set down to beat plucky wildcard Alex Michelsen. The Chilean has impressed across surfaces this season, with his four-set defeat to Carlos Alcaraz at this stage of Wimbledon in July proof of what he can do when he plumbs his depths, and this could end up a thriller between two conflicting styles. Pace and power take on wingspan and even more power in a match that should see plenty of long rallies but back De Minaur to have the legs required to eventually break Jarry’s spirit. Take the Aussie to edge through outright, as he did in their only previous meeting in Acapulco back in 2019.
