World number 91 Anna-Lena Friedsam handed Shuai Zhang a double bagel last week in Strasbourg before a tight straight-sets defeat to eventual runner-up Anna Blinkova to bring some good form on clay into Roland-Garros. The 29-year-old once reached the round of 16 at the US Open in 2016 but after a few years in the wilderness she is playing her first Grand Slam match since a second round exit in New York three years ago. World number 113 Nao Hibino is through to the main draw in Paris for a fifth time but only just after losing in the final round of qualifying. The 28-year-old has never made it past the second round of a Grand Slam but she has lost in the first of each of her last two major appearances to look a little underpowered here. Back Friedsam to earn at least a set as the likelier to edge through based on her recent form in Strasbourg.
