THE PREDICTION
World number nine Petra Kvitova is probably the most seasoned grass-courter on tour right now with both of her Grand Slam titles coming at Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014. The 33-year-old won five of her 30 career WTA titles on grass, including twice here in Birmingham in back-to-back seasons in 2017 and 2018, and she is the reigning Eastbourne International champion to look a strong candidate for the title in Berlin this week. World number 86 Nadia Podoroska is working hard on repairing her ranking after a year-long absence from tour last season and she did well to come back from a set down to beat Rebeka Masarova across two days. The Argentine beat Kvitova in three sets in their first meeting at the Australian Open two years ago but the Czech returned the favour on grass later that year to look the firm favourite here. Both of their previous matches have been tight affairs, though, so back Kvitova to win outright despite her strong opener over Karolina Pliskova.
