World number 41 Miomir Kecmanovic snapped a four-match losing streak on tour with a straight-sets victory over Yibing Wu on Monday, taking his odd 2023 record to 16-17. The 23-year-old has looked strong in parts of this season, finishing runner-up on two occasions to Taylor Fritz at the Delray Beach Open and to Casper Ruud at the Estoril Open, but he has certainly blown hot and cold. There is a real chance at an upset here for 27-year-old Aleksandar Vukic, who came into Eastbourne at a career-high ATP world ranking of 91st after recent success on the Challenger circuit. The Aussie qualified well this weekend before an impressive comeback over Brandon Nakashima was settled in three tiebreaks on Monday and with Kecmanovic’s match also seeing two tiebreaks there looks to be a fruitful combination here. Back Vukic, whose big serve gets a little more out of his game on grass, to earn at least a set here and take at least one tiebreak in the match.
