World number 59 Mikael Ymer reached the quarter-finals of the Eastbourne International last week with an impressive three-set win over Botic van de Zandschulp and it came close in three sets in his defeat to Mackenzie McDonald. The 24-year-old has lost in the first round in each if his last three Grand Slam appearances but he played well in a four-set loss to Jannik Sinner in the second round here last season to look the slightest favourite on conditions in this first meeting with Alex Molcan. World number 83 Molcan reached the second round of Roland-Garros last month in his most recent win and he has struggled for form for most of this season after enjoying a real breakthrough last year. The Slovak is at his best on clay but he has impressed at this level in the past to suggest sets can go both ways here but back Ymer to edge through the outright winner.
