THE PREDICTION

World number 58 Maxime Cressy finished runner-up at the Eastbourne International last summer but his 2023 struggles continued last week with an early exit to Zhizhen Zhang in the round of 16. The 26-year-old claimed his maiden ATP title at the Hall of Fame Open on grass last summer with a serve-and-volley throwback game perfect for the surface but he snapped a woeful 11-match losing streak last week in Eastbourne to look well off it here. World number 60 Laslo Djere has two wins from four matches on grass so far this swing but the Serb much prefers his tennis on clay, on which he won both of his ATP titles in 2019 and 2020. The pair share a finely-poised, tight 1-1 head-to-head record with a three-set win apiece to suggest sets should go both ways here. Big-serving Cressy is no stranger to a tiebreak and Djere is an excellent scrapper, so take at least one tiebreak in this match to leave the result up to chance. Both of their previous encounters saw a tiebreak.
