Former world number four Sofia Kenin is making some decent progress on her long-awaited return top the top of the sport this season after several years in the wilderness. The 24-year-old won her Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in 2020 and she finished runner-up to Iga Swiatek at Roland-Garros later that year to prove she has the game in there somewhere for clay. A three-set victory over Aliaksandra Sasnovich at the Charleston Open earlier this month was an encouraging result but world number 75 Maryna Zanevska is at her best on this surface and capable of the occasional upset on tour. Zanevska, however, has not played for just over a month since a first round defeat at the Miami Open and Kenin beat the Belgian in straight sets at the Hobart International back in January. Take Kenin to earn at least a set as the likelier of two capable victors and leave the winner up to chance.
