World number eight Taylor Fritz and number 86 Marton Fucsovics had not met on tour before this season but this will be their third match in four months since Fritz won their opener in straight sets at Indian Wells. The 25-year-old made it 2-0 in their encounter a month later at the Munich Open on clay and this will be a fascinating third edition on grass to complete the trio of tour surfaces. Ritz beat Aslan Karatsev in straight sets to prove his credentials on grass as two-time Eastbourne champion but 31-year-old Fucsovics is also very capable in these conditions, battling past Denis Shapovalov and Yibing Wu in three sets apiece this week. Both players have reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, Fucsovics in 2021 and Fritz last season, to suggest this could be a close and thrilling clash but back Fritz to come through the outright winner.
