THE PREDICTION
World number 13 Cam Norrie avoided a potential early upset on Friday with a commanding straight-sets victory over Alexandre Muller. The 27-year-old was stunned by world number 99 Zhizhen Zhang at this stage of the Madrid Open two weeks ago and he has failed to win back-to-back matches in each of his last four tournaments since reaching the quarter-finals at Indian Wells. World number 92 Marton Fucsovics is capable of much better tennis than his current ranking suggests and he proved that on Friday with a straight-sets victory over 17th seed Alex de Minaur. The Hungarian is yet to drop a set this week in Rome but whilst he stands every chance at taking this to a decider Norrie looks to have his number in a convincing 4-0 head-to-head record. Two of their four meetings have seen sets go both ways, including a three-set encounter at the Barcelona Open this time last season, so back Norrie to win outright here.
