THE PREDICTION
World number 35 Jasmine Paolini handed Louisa Chirico a bagel in their first set before coping well with a fight back to win in straight sets on Sunday. The 27-year-old recently enjoyed her best run at this level with a quarter-final exit at the Cincinnati Masters to eventual champion Coco Gauff and she could be in for another excellent campaign here in an underpowered draw in Guadalajara. World number 54 Martina Trevisan conceded just two games to qualifier Demi Schuurs on Sunday but the 29-year-old will find a much tougher test against her compatriot. Trevisan set a career-high WTA world ranking of 18th this season after a huge run to the semi-finals of Roland-Garros last summer but her game is seriously reduced away from her favoured clay. Conditions in Guadalajara seem to better-suit clay-courters compared to other hardcourts at this stage of the season but in-form Paolini should still be favoured in this match. Back the younger Italian to win outright.
