MARIE BOUZKOVA VS VERONIKA KUDERMETOVA PREDICTION
27-year-old Veronika Kudermetova set a career-high WTA world ranking of ninth after winning the Tokyo 500 in October, where she stunned a field including Jessica Pegula and Iga Swiatek to prove what she is capable of.
The Russian has dropped back to 31st after failing to emulate her semi-final exits at Masters events in Madrid and Rome last season and a three-match losing streak coming into Paris does not bode well.
However, world number 42 Marie Bouzkova is in a similar boat as she returns from injury to start cold at Roland-Garros. The 25-year-old finished runner-up to Camila Osorio at the Bogota Open early last month but it has been an otherwise poor season so far by her standards.
Bouzkova failed to qualify for Strasbourg this week but Kudermetova has not played since an early exit in Rome. Back Kudermetova to earn at least a set, having beaten Bouzkova on clay last season in Rome, to leave this tough call up to chance.
