World number nine Taylor Fritz comes to Geneva seeking as many matches as possible ahead of Roland-Garros after an early exit to Yannick Hanfmann at the Italian Open proved he had some work to do on clay. The 25-year-old is one of the most well-rounded all-courters on tour with recent wins over Stefanos Tsitsipas, Stan Wawrinka, Dominic Thiem and Cristian Garin on the surface but his last three defeats have come against players ranked outside the top 30 to throw a little doubt over his form. World number 74 Marcos Giron conceded just four games to an out-of-sorts Alexander Bublik on Monday but he will have to recalibrate quickly here to face a much tougher challenge. Fritz beat Giron at the Dallas Open this February to take a 2-1 lead in their head-to-head but each of their last two encounters have needed a deciding set to solve. Back Fritz to win outright.
