THE PREDICTION
World number six Ons Jabeur finished runner-up to Elena Rybakina here last season on what looked a serious upset at the time but now looks a little more reasonable given the player Rybakina has become. 28-year-old Jabeur also finished runner-up at the US Open to Iga Swiatek to move up ton a career-high WTA world ranking of number two and her entertaining, trick-laden playstyle is a welcome tonic amongst the powerful, more consistent ball-strikers around her. The Tunisian will be a popular draw here at Wimbledon and always the crowd’s favourite outside of home players but it remains to be seen how her body holds up after undergoing surgery earlier this season and recently suffering a few injuries.
25-year-old Magdalena Frech comes into Wimbledon in the form of her career after back-to-back quarter-finals in Nottingham and Birmingham and the Pole should not be underestimated here. Jabeur had to come back from a set down to oust Frech in their first encounter at Indian Wells in March and she is certainly vulnerable to an early upset at this moment in time. Take Jabeur to win outright, outside of an accumulator, or leave this one alone altogether.
