World number 59 Mackenzie McDonald received a bye to the round of 16 at the Hall of Fame Open as the fourth seed this week and he will be eager to make a dent after recently reaching the semi-finals of the Eastbourne International via a huge upset over Taylor Fritz. The 28-year-old took the first set from eventual champion Francisco Cerundolo before defeat in Eastbourne and he put in a strong performance in a first round defeat to in-form Alexander Bublik to look a contender here. 27-year-old Li Tu will be a tough force to tackle, though, after the Aussie finally claimed his first ever win on tour over compatriot Aleksandar Vukic on Tuesday. The world number 252 looks the sever underdog here, particularly with home support behind McDonald, but it would be wise to practice caution here after such a life-changing moment in his career.
