THE PREDICTION

World number 38 Sebastian Ofner received a bye to the round of 16 here in Cordoba as the fourth seed this week and he looks the favourite to roll through to the last eight from this kind opener. 27-year-old Ofner reached the round of 16 at Roland-Garros last summer to prove himself on his favoured clay but he has since enjoyed some excellent results on hardcourts too to show for overall improvements in his game. 21-year-old Luciano Darderi came through qualifying well this weekend before an eye-catching comeback over Mario Barrios Vera on Tuesday, only his second win at tour level. It will be interesting to see what this latest young Italian up-and-comer can do on the clay swing over the coming months but Ofner seems the sort of player capable of hitting the ground running on a rare seeding. Back the Austrian to win.

TIP: SEBASTIAN OFNER TO WIN
