World number 67 Luca Van Assche is an exciting up-and-comer at 19 years old but he has yet to prove himself on grass in what is his first main tour season. The Frenchman took the first set from Novak Djokovic in a three-set defeat to the Serb at the Banja Luka Open on his favoured clay in April but he only just snuck past George Loffhagen at the Eastbourne International last week to look a solid underdog here. World number 50 Aslan Karatsev should be considered a top 30 player at least in terms of ability but the Russian has struggled to maintain any sort of consistency for much of the past two seasons. The 29-year-old is looking for his first win here at SW19 and this is no gimme after a poor grass swing so far. Back debutante Van Assche to earn at least a set or Karatsev to win at least two to leave this result up to chance.
