THE PREDICTION
26-year-old Lloyd Harris almost broke the top 30 two years ago but a serious injury last season saw him miss the second-half of 2022 and he has yet to make a full comeback in 2023. A straight-sets victory over Bernabe Zapata Miralles gives the South African a second win of the season but there will be much tougher foes on grass to come and world number 94 Roman Safiullin looks the slight favourite in this first meeting between the two. The 25-year-old beat Abedallah Shelbayh in straight sets on Monday for a comfortable opener of his own but Harris’ big serve should prove a more difficult test in these conditions. At his best, Harris could be backed to come through in straight sets on a fast court but take Safiullin to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.
