World number 30 Petra Martic is an excellent all-courter with three round of 16 exits here at Wimbledon, including last summer’s defeat to eventual champion Elena Rybakina. The 32-year-old beat Katie Boulter and Beatriz Haddad-Maia for two solid grass-court results this week in Eastbourne before losing to eventual champion Madison Keys in the quarter-finals and she should take some beating this fortnight. 18-year-old Linda Fruhvirtova will make her Wimbledon debut here at a career-high WTA world ranking of 49th and she won on her debuts at the US Open last season and in a remarkable run to the round of 16 in Melbourne in January. The Czech is one of a handful of young rising stars worth keeping an eye on this fortnight and a run to the quarter-finals in Birmingham two weeks ago was a strong one. Martic beat Fruhvirtova at the Jasmin Open late last year but take her to earn at least a set as the likelier of two capable victors.
