World number 48 Lin Zhu stunned top seed Caroline Garcia in Cleveland this week before losing to eventual runner-up Ekaterina Alexandrova in the semi-finals. The 29-year-old found the form of her career earlier this year to reach the round of 16 at the Australian Open before claiming her maiden WTA title at the Hua Hin Championships and she looks the favourite in these conditions against clay specialist Mayar Sherif. World number 33 Sherif just missed out on a seeding at the US Open after struggling since the end of the clay swing but she enjoyed her best run yet earlier this year, taking the first set from eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka before defeat in the quarter-finals of the Madrid Masters. The pair have not met on tour before but back Lin Zhu to earn at least a set in favourable conditions to leave the victor up to chance.
