World number 77 Lesia Tsurenko grabbed an important clay win at the Charleston Open earlier this month before defeat to eventual champion Ons Jabeur in the second round. The 33-year-old finished runner-up to Lin Zhu at the Hua Hin Championships back in February but she has struggled with fitness issues, and understandable complications due to the war in Ukraine, in recent months to see her retire from three of her last five tournaments. That makes leaving this match out of an accumulator the wise move against world number 97 Lucia Bronzetti but it would be a surprise to see the Italian progress here as she takes a seven-match losing streak at tour-level into the first round. Bronzetti has enjoyed some success on the ITF circuit this season but at this moment in time Tsurenko can be backed to come through the winner here, probably in two.
