THE PREDICTION
28-year-old Laslo Djere moved back inside the top 40 on tour after finishing runner-up to Alexander Zverev at the Hamburg Open last weekend and he looks a strong title contender this week after two straight-sets wins. The Serb is no stranger to a tiebreak as an excellent scrapper on court, with one in each of his two wins over Christopher O’Connell and Thiago Seyboth Wild so far, so consider adding that option to any pick here. World number 54 Pedro Cachin, also 28, is the third seed in Kitzbuhel after recently claiming his maiden ATP title at the Gstaad Open with a three-set victory over Albert Ramos-Vinolas. The Argentine did not blink in a rematch with Ramos-Vinolas on Wednesday, beating the veteran in straight sets this time, to look another contender for this wide open draw and this should be a very close match indeed. Back Djere to earn at least a set given his exploits last week but this match looks likely to need a decider to offer up a tempting combination.
