LASLO DJERE VS DANIEL ALTMAIER PREDICTION
World number 83 Daniel Altmaier is capable of much better tennis than his current ATP world ranking suggests, especially on clay, and he proved that this time last season with a huge upset in five sets over Jannik Sinner.
The 25-year-old then lost limply to Grigor Dimitrov in the third round before a poor run and he has suffered a similar fate this season, following a stunning upset of Alexander Zverev at the Mexico Open with a surprisingly poor spell. A three-match losing streak should be taken with a pinch of salt given what he did here last season but world number 52 Laslo Djere is also much better in these conditions than his ranking suggests.
The 28-year-old enjoyed an excellent summer last season, finishing runner-up to Zverev at the Hamburg 500 and upsetting ben Shelton at Wimbledon, but he suffered an injury in the first round of the Monte-Carlo Masters last month, with this his first match back in almost two months.
Altmaier won their only previous encounter, on clay in three sets at the Kitzbuhel Open in 2021, but back the German to earn at least two sets here to leave the victor up to chance.
