27-year-old Katie Boulter set a new career-high WTA world ranking of 60th earlier this season after reaching the second round of the Canada Masters, backing up her run to the third round at Wimbledon after claiming a maiden WTA title at the Nottingham Open. The Brit will make only her second appearance at the US Open after a first round exit here in 2021 but the conditions should suit her strong serving against players ranked outside the top 40. World number 88 Diane Parry recently enjoyed a run to the semi-finals of the Ladies Open Lausanne on her favoured clay before defeat to compatriot Clara Burel. The 20-year-old has not won on a hardcourt since last September to look a little undercooked in these conditions but this match looks likely to see three sets. Back Boulter to earn at least one of them as the likelier of two capable victor.
