THE PREDICTION
World number 49 Katerina Siniakova came back from a set down to beat Petra Martic late on Wednesday and she should be considered a strong outsider for the title after ending last season in excellent form at this level. The 27-year-old reached back-to-back WTA 250 finals in October, finishing runner-up to Leylah Fernandez at the Hong Kong Open before avenging that defeat en-route to the Jiangxi Open title a week later, and she beat Karolina Pliskova in Adelaide last month before a tight exit to former number 11 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. World number 52 Clara Burel caused a huge upset at the Australian Open two weeks ago when she stunned three-time quarter-finalist Jessica Pegula in straight sets but she was just as easily ousted herself by compatriot Oceane Dodin in the third to waste the opportunity. A straight-sets victory over Sinja Kraus on Tuesday was a solid start to her Linz campaign but back Siniakova to have enough recent form to reach the quarter-finals here.
TIP: KATERINA SINIAKOVA TO WIN
