27-year-old Karolina Muchova set a new career-high WTA world ranking of 10th this week after her incredible run to a first Masters final in Cincinnati was ended in straight sets by Coco Gauff. The Czech beat Maria Sakkari and Aryna Sabalenka amongst other top talents en-route the final but her crowning glory to date was finishing runner-up to Iga Swiatek in three tight sets at Roland-Garros in June. Muchova is an excellent all-courter who is arguably at her best on a hardcourt, although an injury is never far away. World number 167 Storm Hunter reached the second round of a Grand Slam for the first time at Roland-Garros this summer but the Aussie looks set for another early exit here. The 29-year-old is ranked third in the world in Women’s Doubles, to which she can turn her attention after what should be a fairly one-sided defeat. Back Muchova to win in fewer than 17.5 games.
