THE PREDICTION
26-year-old Karoline Muchova produced a stunning run to her maiden Grand Slam final at Roland-Garros earlier this month and came closer than almost anyone to beating Iga Swiatek in Paris in a thrilling three-set defeat. The Czech’s main foe to breaking into the top 10 on tour is her injury prone body and it remains to be seen how she fares at Wimbledon after a month’s break from play but she has reached the quarter-finals in two of her three appearances at SW19 to look a genuine title contender early-on. World number 103 Jule Niemeier suffered the consequences of Wimbledon’s ranking points ban last summer more than most after a remarkable run to the quarter-finals on her debut but the German is certainly one of the tougher draws outside the seeds. The 23-year-old has struggled to match her level here practically ever since on tour but a first meeting with Muchova could be the springboard for more success if the Czech is not ready to go. Leave this match out of an accumulator but otherwise back Muchova to win outright.
