22-year-old Alycia Parks will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 48th after beating Anastasia Tikhonova in straight sets on Tuesday, whilst 21-year-old Kamilla Rakhimova will also set a new career-high of around 81st following a comfortable win over Malak El Allami. Parks is currently enjoying an excellent breakthrough season on tour after stunning Carolina Garcia to win her maiden WTA title at the Lyon Open in February and the American only recently upset Victoria Azarenka, on clay, at the Madrid Open before a third round defeat to Martina Trevisan. Rakhimova produced a strong run to the semi-finals of the Bogota Open early last month but despite some recent strong performances this first tour-level meeting between the two looks like Parks’ to lose. Back the American to earn at least a set inside an accumulator or to win outright on its own.
