20-year-old Julia Riera will set a new career-high WTA world ranking after upsetting Mayar Sherif in straight sets on Wednesday to reach the quarter-finals of the Rabat Open on her tour debut. The Argentine has been enjoying plenty of success on the ITF circuit over the past 12 months and her momentum with nothing to lose here will be a tough force for Yulia Putintseva to have to tackle. World number 61 Putintseva is capable of much better tennis than her current ranking suggests and so far this week she has coasted through the draw, conceding just three games to Leolia Jeanjean on Wednesday.
