THE PREDICTION
26-year-old Tallon Griekspoor will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 33rd no matter the outcome here but the Dutchman looks the slight favourite to win his second title of the season on home grass in Rosmalen. Griekspoor won his maiden tour final at the Pune Open at the start of the season and enjoyed some career-best form until falling away on the clay swing but wins over Emil Ruusuvuori, Alex de Minaur and Alexei Popyrin this week are vastly impressive given the different playstyles he has faced down, backed by a partisan crowd. World number 103 Jordan Thompson has enjoyed some excellent results on grass over the last two weeks, reaching the semi-finals of the quality Surbiton Challenger last week before wins over Milos Raonic and Adrian Mannarino here in Rosmalen. The Aussie lost his only previous tour final here to Mannnarino back in 2019 and he will feel a sense of destiny in his return four years later.
The Libema Open crowd pulled unlikely home champion Tim van Rijthoven through here last summer, and Griekspoor has a much better chance than his compatriot, but Thompson should not be underestimated. The Aussie is a tireless scrapper well capable of taking this to three sets but back Griekspoor with that title-winning experience to give the crowd what they want here with an outright win.
