World number two Aryna Sabalenka conceded just five games to the retiring Maryna Zanevska on Tuesday to get a promising US Open campaign underway. The 25-year-old has reached back-to-back semi-finals here to look a serious contender for a final spot in New York, especially as she comes into the US Open as a Grand Slam champion for the first time after beating Elena Rybakina to the Australian Open title in January. Sabalenka has moved up to world number one in the live rankings and she can stay there if she significantly out-performs defending US Open champion Iga Swiatek this fortnight. The Belarussian has reached at least the last four in each of her last four Grand Slams to look a dead cert for the latter stages and this first encounter with Jodie Burrage should be over as quickly as her opener. 24-year-old Burrage will break the top 90 on tour for the first time after upsetting Anna Blinkova in straight sets on Tuesday but this should be several leagues too steep a climb for the steadily improving Brit. Back Sabalenka to win in fewer than 17.5 games.
